How did you get inspired to become a filmmaker?
At a young age I loved listening to music. Music gave me a vision to create a story in my head every time. As I got older what inspired me was watching films today and knowing I can do it. I’m always thinking of something or creating a story so why not film my ideas?
What is your favorite part about the short film form?
I love everything about it.
Who were the people that supported the making of this film?
My family and girlfriend. My girlfriend is very hands on, she’s my motivation. Even though I feel like giving up because of all the blood, sweat and tears she cheers me up and brings me joy.
What resources do you use as a filmmaker? Music, locations, props, editing, crew, etc.
I have people I know that create music and film score for my project. Locations are very hard but I was blessed to have wonderful actors that help out with locations and props. I have a crew of three people and we all do a lot of work. I myself am the Editor, Director and Director of Photography
What is your next project?
My next project, I don’t have the name for it, but it’s about three high schoolers that start an ice cream truck business. I think it’ll be pretty dope.
The independent film business is a difficult one. What keeps you motivated? Where do you see the industry going in the future?
It’s hard, but as creative as I am I don’t think it will be for me. It’s just hard getting yourself out there. Once I’m in the door then I’ll be able to create without worrying about money.
Which filmmakers, artists or individuals have most influenced your work?
There’s a lot of filmmakers I like.
What advice would you give new filmmakers?
Study your craft. Learn it and then go for it. Quality is always good. Have a great storyline.
