October 31, 2017

On the most haunted day of the year, our staff has compiled a list of our favorite horror shorts on Audience Awards. Wishing you a spooky, frightful and horrifying day!

The Gate written by Matt Westrup follows a government inquiry into a suspected outbreak of a new virulent strain of rabies. As the investigation proceeds, it becomes clear that the bizarre nature of the condition has a much more worrying origin.

Kookie by Justin Harding features Bree, a dishonest 9-year-old who receives a terrifying visitor after a parenting lesson goes horribly wrong.

Two Birds by Brendan Beachman follows a young woman named Flynn who makes a terrifying discovery that calls her relationship with her girlfriend Eve into question.

Kitchen by Steve Duchesne takes place in a house in the middle of nowhere where Jason makes the discovery of a cookbook hidden in his attic. Later, when he decides to prepare a delicious meal for his wife Marie, things do not go as planned.

Created by Luciano De Azevedo, Rosalita follows Evil as he returns to his roots and seeks the first love of his life with the hope of building the perfect family.

In Balloon by Mitchell Slan, Penny and her therapist battle her phobia of balloons through psychological experimentation. However, it’s not the balloon itself… it’s the clown-like serial killer it represents.

Fried Barry by Ryan Kruger features a heroin junkie, that spends his days in an abandoned building walking around tripping from his latest hit, going through his ups and downs and reliving his old memories.

The horror doesn’t have to stop here. Take a look at Audience Awards film library for a shelf full of indie shorts.
