Searching for Kando is finding new ways to inspire the heart. Sony asked the Audience Awards community to show how they show their inspiration and passion for the world around them.
This year Sony Electronics hosted the Searching for Kando Video Contest in hopes of finding the right person to show inspiration and spirit in 2 minutes or less. Sony’s mission is to inspire, fulfill curiosity, build ones passion for technology, pursuit innovation, excite the consumer and find new ways to show culture and experiences to everyday people.
The winner of the Searching for Kando Video Contest was Translucent by Kane Borchert. The story of two brothers connected by water over a greater distance then can be measured.

Kane Borchert is a 17-year-old who has “a background in photography, which helped me to develop my skills and focus more on cinematography”. He’s one of the newer cinematographers on Audience Awards who says he “heard about the Audience Awards platform about a year ago from other filmmakers, and decided I would give it a try and submit a film.” Kane wins a Sony a7S II Mirrorless Camera & FE 24-70mm F/4.0 lens. A great camera to make his next video!
Kane notes, “Winning this contest feels like a big step in my career. I have wanted to do more professional paid work such as music videos and commercials, but felt like my gear was holding me back a bit. Now by winning this contest and acquiring an amazing camera (with 4K capability), I can accomplish much more. Audience awards will definitely be my go-to contest platform since there are amazing opportunities to win prizes and get exposure.”

Kane says that when “I was finished shooting and was able to look at all of the footage, I realized that it was worth all of the hard work to create an entertaining, meaningful and emotional story the audience can respond to.”
