Better Business Bureau Opens Submissions for “Gestures of Trust” Contest on Audience Awards

July 23, 2019

The Better Business Bureau and Audience Awards are calling for short film submissions for the “Gestures of Trust” contest. The idea around this contest is to showcase BBB’s 5 Gestures of Trust: Be Honest, Be Transparent, Be Proactive, Be Humble, and Be Equitable.

Through research into consumer attitudes on marketplace issues, BBB has unearthed what motivates consumers to use a particular business. Younger consumers are asking, “Why should I trust this business?” They are more apt to investigate and see if the business is trustworthy and operating out of the 5 Gestures of Trust: Is the business honest? Transparent? Proactive? Humble? Equitable?

“We are looking forward to seeing what the filmmakers come up with to visualize these ideals that make up trust,” says Katherine Hutt, Chief Communications Officer at the International Association of the Better Business Bureaus. “It’s exciting to work with new talent and to see the creativity.”

“Audience Awards is excited for the opportunity to match BBB with filmmakers who will tell engaging stories about the 5 Gestures of Trust,” states Paige Williams, CEO and Founder of Audience Awards. “We are proud to partner with BBB and create a dynamic platform for deserving filmmakers to exhibit their work and have a real shot at a successful filmmaking career.”

The Better Business Bureau is encouraging filmmakers from the United States, Canada, and Mexico to submit short films exploring the 5 Gestures of Trust: Be Honest, Be Transparent, Be Proactive, Be Humble, and Be Equitable. The Grand Prize winner will receive a $15,000 contract with the Better Business Bureau to produce a short film or PSA series on the topic of trust in the marketplace.
