International Documentary Challenge and Fusion Announce 2015 Fusion Doc Challenge Winners at Slamdance Premiere

INTERNATIONAL DOCUMENTARY CHALLENGE AND FUSION ANNOUNCE 2015 FUSION DOC CHALLENGE WINNERS AT SLAMDANCE PREMIERE

PARK CITY, UTAH. – Tonight, twelve films created for The International Documentary Challenge premiered their short documentaries that were made in five days at the Slamdance Film Festival.

The twelve finalist films chosen to premiere at Slamdance were:

A Place for Lidia Directed by Marco A. Diaz
Don’t Call Me Cute Directed by Scott Hancock & Jesse Kerman
Renewed Directed by Ashley Seering & Cory Byers
A Day In The Life Of A Pedestrian Crosswalk Button Directed by Josef Beeby & Marika Lapointe
Timeshifters Directed by Sofian Khan
Oh I Get It Directed by Danny Tayara & Sara McCaslin

Fusion Doc finalists TAA

The films were judged by an international panel of film industry professionals and narrowed down to the top twelve films. A finalist jury composed of Sean Covel (Producer, Napoleon Dynamite), Deny Staggs (Montana Film Commissioner) and Elke Goverston (Mamalode Founder & Editor) judged the top twelve films and chose the winners.

Best Fusion Film:  Time Shifters Directed by Sofian Khan

Honorable Mention: Don’t Call Me Cute directed by Scott Hancock & Jesse Kerman

Best Use of Theme: A Perfect Record Directed by Greg Carlson & Tucker Lucas

Best Cinematography: A Perfect Record Directed by Greg Carlson & Tucker Lucas

Best Score: Everyone in Between Directed by Whitney Skauge

Best Art  Film: Signal Box – Vibrance of a Concrete Jungle Directed by Duncan Williamson

Best 1st Person Film: Perspective Directed by Alex Williams & Jon Ward

Best Biography/Character Study Film: Don’t Call Me Cute Directed by Scott Hancock & Jesse Kerman

Best Historical Film: Time Shifters Directed by Sofian Khan

Best Music Film: Butterfly Directed by Sarah Hudson

Best Science/Technology Film: Hateful 48 directed by Tommy Tang

Best Social Issue/Political Film: Directed by Do You See What I See? Directed by Michael Sullivan & Erin Babbin

Best Sports Film: Robin Brown Directed by Zach Behar & Greg Armstrong

Best LGBTQ Film: Everyone in Between Directed by Whitney Skauge

Best Adventure Film: A Place for Lidia Directed by Marco A. Diaz

Each filmmaking team that travelled to Slamdance received a $150 travel stipend. The Fusion Filmmaker won $1,000 and the Doc Challenge winning filmmaker won $1,000. The films will compete for the audience choice in Spring 2016 on TheAudienceAwards.com. Everyone is invited to vote for all of their favorite films once a day.

The films along with an additional eight films will screen on Fusion Channels over the next two years.
