Throwback Thursday: Empire Records

September 25, 2014

On October 20th, 1995, Empire Records made all us kids wish we worked in a super cool record store.  Starring Live Taylor, Robin Tunny, Renee Zellweger, and Anthony LaPaglia, this coming of age film about a record shop on the verge of being absorbed by a chain music store called Music Town, will bring you right back to the days when combat boots and plaid skirts were en vogue, and music stores weren’t an obsolete relic of the past.

A fact that makes us kind of sad and quiet…le sigh.

But with a soundtrack featuring The Cranberries, Better Than Ezra, Cracker, and Toad The Wet Sprocket, Empire Records is definitely worthy of the AudNews TBT spotlight for this week, and will be sure to stroke your 90’s sensibilities in all the right spots so you can celebrate Rex Manning day properly.   Not to mention this stoner-licious scene.

RIP Oderus Urungus.
