Film History Trivia: Sex Symbols and Cult Murders

Your Saturday trivia includes flappers and Charles Manson.

August 9, 1930: Betty Boop debuted in the cartoon Dizzy Dishes by Max Fleischer.  This flapper caricature was the first animated sex symbol and is based off of the singer Helen Kane.

August 9, 1969: Actress and wife of director Roman Polanski, Sharon Tate, was murdered by the Charles Manson cult at her home in Bel Air, California. Tate was eight-and-a-half months pregnant when she was murdered along with four others. Her last film, 12+1, was released posthumously and co-starred Orson Welles.
