Announcing Audience Awards’ 2018 Comedy Shorts Film Festival Winners

October 8, 2018

Satire. Screwball. Dark. Scatological. We asked for all the comedy shorts, and this is what the Audience Awards community delivered to make the world laugh – since we need it!

The winners were selected by the global audience and the Comedy Shorts Film Festival jury panel including, Andrew Carlberg, named one of “Hollywood’s New Leaders” by Variety and producer of 2013’s Some Girl(s); Becky Smith, Emmy-nominated television and feature director of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy; Jessica Hardy, founder and artistic director of the Chicago Comedy Film Festival.

The first place winner is 36 Questions by Giancarlo Fiorentini and Jonathan Grimm. It is inspired by a social experiment developed by psychologist Arthur Aron, who managed to get two strangers to fall in love in his laboratory 20 years ago, this short imagines what might happen with the two least compatible people participating in the study.

In second place is Born Again by Jason Tostevin. When five amateur Satanists have their summoning ceremony go terribly wrong, they’re left to deal with the very holy sh*t consequences.

The third place winner is Dinner with a Murderer by Ally Maynard, in which three dimwitted friends reunite with a murderer they grew up with.

A huge thanks to our community of creatives and filmmakers who submitted to the 2018 Comedy Shorts Film Festival, and a hearty congratulations to all the winners! We look forward to seeing the top three films premiere at AudFest 2019!
