Introducing your 2017 Dramatic Shorts Jurors

January 17, 2017

We’d like to introduce our illustrious jury for Dramatic Shorts Film Festival, which opens today. Audience Awards is always looking for ways to connect its filmmakers to their audience and also to the industry. Along with the audience, films are also curated by an esteemed panel of judges made up of contest-specific and industry leaders. Not only does this ensure fair voting, it also connects filmmakers’ work with people of influence. We are so fortunate that these three amazing artists will be watching Dramatic Shorts films.

Jacques Thelemaque is an award-winning filmmaker and cofounder of Filmmakers Alliance, an independent filmmaking resource organization that has supported the production of hundreds of films screening at every major festival in the world. Jacques is also a film theorist, teacher, lecturer and consultant and has been a programmer for the Los Angeles Film Festival since 2011.

Ellen Galvin is the current strategic marketing director/writer at American Cinema Editors, which is the honorary society of film editors, a standout arena where women have historically dominated in the film industry.

Art Smith, Jr. is a drama judge. Smith has over 30 years of film/TV experience. As owner of his own production company, No Budget Movie Company, Smith coaches new screenwriters and helps to produce their films at a low budget. He can credit teaching and mentoring over 300 individuals currently working in the television or film industry.
