Earlier this week, Mission: Impossible 6‘s director Christopher Mcquarrie dropped a picture on Twitter from the upcoming film.

The picture (seen above) promotes the women who will star in the sixth installment of the spy franchise. As Entertainment Weekly pointed out, they are industry experts Canessa Kirby, Angela Bassett, Rebecca Ferguson, and Michelle Monaghan. Both Ferguson and Monaghan are Mission: Impossible alumni. (Ferguson appeared in the last movie and Monaghan has played the main character Ethan Hunt’s wife in previous films.)

Fans replied enthusiastically in response to the post. Many praised the apparent choice to go more female.

The announcement came shortly after the massive box office success of Wonder Woman, perhaps signaling that the impact is already happening. Does this image show that M:I 6 will turn from being as male-dominated in the past? The evidence is starting to say it might.
