FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 8, 2014

The Audience Awards announces a call for submissions for an online film competition that gives short films exposure and awards.

(Missoula, Mont.) – The Audience Awards announces an exciting new online film competition called Up and Left for short LGBTQ-related fiction and non-fiction films 15 minutes and under.  Filmmakers from Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska are invited to submit films through July 31 for an online competition that runs this August.  The film with the most votes wins $1000 provided by the PRIDE Foundation, and all of the films that compete gain invaluable exposure.

The Audience Awards connects filmmakers to audiences through short film competitions.  This Montana-based company is designed to support filmmakers and celebrate diverse short films through an online voting platform.

Paige Williams, founder of The Audience Awards, says: “Our goal is to help filmmakers raise money, build new audiences, and connect with colleagues and fans.”  The last film competition, which ran in June, generated over 100,000 views, and led to offers to enter film festivals for participating filmmakers.

Filmmakers are invited to submit an LGBTQ-centric film online at theaudienceawards.com to compete in the Up and Left competition, which is sponsored by the PRIDE Foundation.  Films must be 15 minutes or less.  The cost of entry is $20, and the submission deadline is July 31.   Filmmakers must reside in AK, ID, MT, WA, or OR.  All filmmakers have the opportunity to create an online profile, which helps them raise money and gain exposure for film projects.

Viewers from around the world will be able to vote for their favorite LGBTQ film from August 4 to August 18.  Each viewer must register for free, and is allowed to vote for one film each day.  The film with the most votes on August 18 wins $1000.
