Organizers Announce New BIFF Adventure Film Pavilion: A ‘Festival Within a Festival’
BOULDER, Colo. (August 27, 2019) – The Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF) is now accepting film submissions for its 16th Season, which will be held March 5-8, 2020 in Boulder, Colorado. The critically acclaimed annual film festival has gained a reputation as one of the most influential and innovative festivals in the country, with a large number of new-but-unknown feature films, documentaries, and shorts that have gone from early screenings at BIFF to significant box-office success and multiple Oscar nominations.
Notable highlights from BIFF 2019 featured A-list filmmakers, a record-breaking 25,000 attendees, and numerous celebrity guests including legendary musician David Crosby (David Crosby: Remember My Name), Golden Globe-nominated actor/director Emilio Estevez (The Public), and Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Jakob Dylan (Echo in The Canyon).
Feature length films accepted into the festival are eligible to compete for the prestigious Grand Jury Prize of $10,000 for Best Feature Length Film (narrative or documentary) and the $3,000 Grand Jury Prize for Best Short Film (documentary, narrative, or animated short). All films are qualified for the distinguished People’s Choice Award. The official deadline for submissions is August 20 and the late deadline is September 20. BIFF Adventure Film Pavilion
New in 2020, BIFF is pleased to announce a unique programming addition – its first festival within a festival. The BIFF Adventure Film Pavilion will be a single, state-of-the-art downtown theater exclusively dedicated to a suite of new epic adventure films, with shorts, features, and discussions with world-class adventure filmmakers, a few surprises, and of course, legendary BIFF parties.
Boulder has long been a mecca for the world’s top elite adventurers, along with notable writers and filmmakers, such as Warren Miller, Jon Krakauer, Conrad Anker, Cory Richards, Lynn Hill, and many others. The BIFF Adventure Film Pavilion will be held at Boulder’s nationally renowned eTown Hall, March 7-8.
