How did you get inspired to become a filmmaker?
I wasn’t always into making films. I have a background in music and always thought making music videos. Until I had to do a music video for a class and found that I love editing. It was so fun to take the footage and put everything together to make something great to watch.
What is your favorite part about the short film form?
Short film really allows for a focus on character and story. If you can effectively tell a story and introduce characters and really have your audience involved in the film in less than 10 minutes, that takes real skill. Also, short forms allows for me to have more than one project on the doc.
Who were the people that supported the making of this film?
First and foremost was my family. I am so grateful for my parents and how they continue to support me in finding my path and my dreams. Then my friends, crew, cast, and teachers. I had the best cast and crew to work with. They made making this short a reality. My friends were and have always been a great support to me and of course my teachers who mentored me and helped me refine my skills as a film maker.
What resources do you use as a filmmaker? Music, locations, props, editing, crew, etc.
As a filmmaker, I try to use as many resources as possible! I love getting original music from classmates or other composers. I love using local locations that aren’t well known. Making props and costumes is also one of my favorite pastimes. Since I’m an editor, I love editing and being able to see my project in its final form.

What is your next project?
My next project is entitled The World That Once Was. I’m super excited about this project as it is even bigger than the last one so I am putting myself to the limit. It’s a sci-fi which is also different from my last film which has me super excited that I will be able to show the diversity in my film making.
The independent film business is a difficult one. What keeps you motivated? Where do you see the industry going in the future?
The thing that keeps me motivated is that I want to tell stories that will uplift and hopefully change lives. I am motivated by a deep desire to tell stories that invite the audience to be apart of them. I am excited for the future of the industry as I see it moving to Colorado and becoming more open and available to us little people.
Which filmmakers, artists or individuals have most influenced your work?
I think I have been most influenced by the works of Dean DeBlois, Bonnie Arnold, Anne Fletcher, Adam Shankman and Walt Disney. Most recently I have been influenced by my fellow classmates and my teachers.
What advice would you give new filmmakers?
Don’t give up and don’t ever be afraid to ask. You never know what amazing things you can accomplish if you don’t try!
