Meet Abbey Nelson, a Real Montana Finalist

April 23, 2015

What about Montana inspired you to create your short?

I love Montana. I love being from Montana. And I love messing with people when they honestly ask me if I grew up without electricity or if I ride a horse everywhere. I wanted to make a fun video that plays off of all the stereotypes we’ve all heard at one point or another, but that truly shows off what Montana is all about!

What other videos did you enjoy?

I really enjoyed watching Colin Ruggiero’s film Montana because it has some of the most beautiful Montana time lapses I’ve ever seen.

What is your next project?

I am in the early planning stages of making a new documentary revolving around the subject of science education and inspiration in America. Putting together my video What is Physics – Inspiration has made me want to pursue a longer film!

What do you plan to do with the prize money?

I am planning on updating my camera gear. I want to buy a new camera body and lenses to go with it. If there’s any left over, it’s going towards my down payment on a house!

Watch Abbey’s film Montana:Defying Expectations and vote for it in the Real Montana Finals.
