Meet Joey Papa, Director of: I Am Spirit

March 19, 2015

Joey Papa’s short film I Am Spirit asks us to peel back the layers of our so called “identity” to reveal the heart and soul of who we really are. He challenges us to go beyond the superficial and to do away with preconceived notions and snap judgements about ourselves and others, in order for us to uncover our spirit.  Watch the exhilarating and thought provoking  I Am Spirit in The Audience Awards Faith And Spirituality film competition.

Papa spoke briefly to us about his work and what inspires him.

Who are you and what’s your filmmaking background?

My name is Joey Papa. I’m a writer, director and on-camera personality. I’ve been in the video industry for 4 years and in the arts my entire life.

What are you working on right now?

Currently I’m working on building an audience for a new vlog, www.joeytalks.com, a vlog that focuses on life & making it matter.

What do you want the audience to take away from your films?

I want people to feel connected, heard and impacted. I want to get my audience to see differently, to wake up to life and see beyond the material world.

What are your wildest dreams for your filmmaking career?

I’m personally pursuing work in front of the camera. I’ve discovered I’m more “at home” in front of the camera than behind it.

What currently inspires you?

Thomas Merton, Einstein, running, playing and being with my kids.
