Presenting filmmaker Erin Babbin, a Real Montana Finalist

April 28, 2015

What about Montana inspired you to create your short?

I recently visited Missoula, Montana when my film Wake Up screened at the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival. I fell in love with the big skies, the river, the way nature and civilization live together harmoniously, the people and the beautiful sense of community that is all over Missoula. I was so inspired, I had to make my film Missoula, Montana!.

What other videos competing in Real Montana did you enjoy and why?

My favorite film in the Montana competition was Whitney Skauge’s Wrinkles : From Montana with Love. I also really enjoy Abbey Nelson’s Montana : Defying Expectations which is also in the finals of the Missoula competition.

What is your next project?

I am currently working on many projects, but I am very excited for a feature documentary on Project Onward. Project Onward is a Chicago based arts organization for artists with mental and developmental disabilities. I have been filming with them for over two years. For more information on the project please visit http://www.ontherealfilm.com/projectonward.html.

What do you plan to do with the prize money if you win?

If I won any money through the Montana competition finals, I would use it to start post production on Project Onward and begin production on a few other big projects I have been dreaming about.

Vote For “Missoula, Montana!” in the Real Montana Finals.
