Team Una Corda, comprised of filmmakers, (Team leader) Marty Krzywonos, Jeremy Ginsberg, and Kyle Miller made it to the top 20 Fusion Doc Challenge Finalists with their film “Keep Smiling”.
What’s your Fusion Doc Challenge film, “Keep Smiling” about?
It’s a brief insight to a talented photographer, his creative process and how he resets himself.
How did you choose your subject?
He happens to have a studio next to ours and we already had an insight as to his background. He was quite agreeable to being in the documentary.
What was the hardest thing about the challenge?
The hardest thing for us, aside working within the confines of the chosen theme was that we had only 3 and half days to put together the film due to a last minute job opportunity that came up.
What was the best thing about the challenge?
At the risk of sounding redundant, it’s a challenge and that’s always an enjoyable thing. Challenges keep life from becoming boring and tedious. If it wasn’t for challenges, we would not progress and develop into better individuals.
What’s your biggest take away from the challenge?
Learning how to make a better documentary the next go round.
What is on the docket now for your film career/What are you working on?
Presently, I am working on two things: A more substantial documentary that will take me a year to complete and I’ve just finished a screenplay for a dramatic short.
Anything else you want your audience to know?
This was a collaboration between three filmmakers. Two of which have worked to together before and the third one who initiated the entering of the competition. I’d recommend more people to enter these contests as it will produce better filmmakers in the process.
