June 6, 2016

More Than 300 Global Film Commissions Compete for Best Marketing Campaigns for the AFCI Creativity Awards 2016

Los Angeles, CA – June 6, 2016  – The Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) today announced the return of its annual film commission competition, the AFCI 2016 Creativity Awards after a three-year hiatus and name change from the Marketing Awards.

The Creativity Awards allows the more than 300 film commissions that are AFCI Members the opportunity to competitively showcase the marketing campaigns they’ve launched within the past 18 months. These campaigns in part are the tools film commissions use to attract film productions to their respective territories and unique locations around the globe.

The AFCI has partnered with the Montana based The Audience Awards to host the global competition. Contest entries are open June 6 through July 31. AFCI Members are eligible to submit in the following categories:

  • Best Logo
  • Best Promotional Swag
  • Best Ad Design
  • Best 360 Experience
  • Best Video Reel
  • Best Website Design
  • Best Production Guide

AFCI Members will compete for first, second and third place placements and be judged by the Audience Awards’ global audience and network of over 100,000 people. The contest’s top prize is the Best Overall Campaign and will be voted on by an independent judging panel:

  • Marjorie Galas, Editor, Variety 411 Los Angeles
  • Elliot Kotek, Editor-In-Chief, Beyond Cinema Magazine
  • Larry Laboe, Executive Director, NewFilmmakers Los Angeles
  • Ivana Massetti, Founder, Women Occupy Hollywood
  • Kent Matsuoka, Locations Manager and Producer

“Today’s global market presents challenges to al media content producers to maintain appeal and relevancy,” said AFCI Executive Director, Kevin Clark. “This extends to AFCI Members as it’s become increasingly important for them to develop captivating creative tools to market their respective locations to appeal to content producers.”

Voting opens August 1 through August 19; the general public can participate in casting their ballots in one or all of the contest campaigns. Winners will be announced at AFCI’s Cineposium conference schedule for September 22 – 24, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia.
