What is your film festival’s mission?
Tiburon International Film Festival (TIFF) is an annual event, which seeks to provide a greater understanding of the world and its many cultures through the artistic medium of film, and through the top quality films from around the world. TIFF wishes to enhance tolerance between people of all backgrounds. Its goal is one of cultural enrichment and heightened cultural awareness, and to create a platform for the independent filmmakers to express their talent and vision from any nation. TIFF strongly believes in its motto: “Understanding the World through Film”®
What role does your film festival play in supporting your film’s community?
It has supported the independent filmmakers from its inception. The festival goal is to create a platform for the young and talented filmmakers from around the globe to have a voice and a place to present their work, while the festival continues to honor the veteran filmmakers as well.
What is something people look forward to every year at your film festival?
Where the films are from! We have shown so many films from very obscure places on earth that sometimes people say the films we present are helping their geography knowledge! That’s why Via magazine has called the festival “A true United Nations of cinema.”

How did your film festival come into being?
A need for a true independent platform for the independent filmmakers was felt for the founders and organizers for a long time. This need and idea led to create a genuine place for the filmmakers to find a home for their creation.
What do you want audiences to take away from your film festival?
To learn about other cultures and people who have the same needs and hopes, for themselves, families, countries and own people.
Anything else you’d like to tell the audience about your festival?
Tiburon International Film Festival has remained true to its mission and proudly has launched many careers in filmmaking.
