February 9, 2016

What is your organization’s mission?

The Humor Research Laboratory (HuRL) is dedicated to the scientific study of humor and its antecedents and consequences. The lab’s theoretical and methodological base is in the interdisciplinary fields of consumer behavior, emotion, and judgment and decision making, with an emphasis in social and cognitive psychology.

What is the best part of what you do?

I study what makes things funny. Best. Job. Ever.

How do you reach your audience?

Depends on the audience. I publish papers in top academic journals in order to reach fellow scholars. I publish blogs, popular press articles, and a book to reach everyone else.

Anything else you’d like to tell the world?

If you want to read about two nerds travelling the world in search of what makes things funny, check out The Humor Code (HumorCode.com).
