The Backcountry Film Festival raises funds and awareness for Winter Wildlands and our like-minded partners around the country.

All funds raised stay within the hosting community to support human powered winter recreation.

Great storytelling and the stoke of winter.
What do you want audiences to take away from your film festival?
To be inspired and connect with winter recreation. The film festival reminds us why we travel into the backcountry during winter months.
How long has your film festival been around?
10 years.
How did your film festival come into being?
We started it in Boise, Idaho with one film. It now travels to over 100 cities worldwide with 9 films and raises over $150,000.
What do you want audiences to take away from your film festival?
The importance of quiet winter recreation and having a partner in Winter Wildlands, that is their voice to help protect those winterscapes we recreate on.

The Audience Awards is film’s social network connecting audiences to films, filmmakers and film festivals. The Audience Awards hosts short film competitions where the audience chooses the best films.
