March 24, 2016

What is your film festival’s mission?

Our festival mission is to create a non exclusive yet competitive environment for great short filmmakers and content creators to showcase, highlight, spotlight, and enable the films and the creators to further progress their careers via screenings, networking, red carpets, panels, workshops, parties, and community and industry outreach.  Screening films with filmmakers attending mixed in with an audience of professionals, A list talent, in Hollywood, at a high quality venue such as the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres, we hope to create a win/win environment for the audience and the filmmakers at the same time.

What role does your film festival play in supporting your film’s community?

We host monthly screenings, monthly panel events, a film conference during our festival bringing in industry executives and platform and distribution creators, A list Hollywood talent, all mixed in with the indie filmmaker.

What is something people look forward to every year at your film festival?

Our Opening Night party is a big event filled with industry executives, brand sponsors, A list talent and filmmakers of all styles converging on our red carpet and after party access for the accepted filmmakers.  1000 people attend the evening and its the biggest short film event in LA each year!

How long has your film festival been around?

This is our 12th year for HollyShorts 🙂

How did your film festival come into being?

Theo and I are lifelong friends and we both love films and the film business…we moved to LA from Miami in 2000 and discussed ways to help our filmmaker and actor friends progress their careers as the LA festival scene was lacking…..and thus the idea of HollyShorts was born in 2004!

We want audiences to come away feeling like they just witnessed great, original filmmaking and with that, an enjoyable fun experience in a friendly setting.  A celebration of great short filmmaking mixed in with great parties and lots of networking…mingle and film creation and collaboration!  We want that all to happen at HSFF 2016 and beyond.

Anything else you’d like to tell the audience about your festival?

We have added an online fest component to the festival for the 2nd year running, via Bitpix, our new online content platform, www.bitpixtv.com
