Who are you and what’s your filmmaking background?
My name is Java Jacobs. I’m from Paris and I’ve been living in New York for the past 6 years. I studied film directing and writing at the School of Visual Arts. I absolutely loved it. I grew up in the film business. My father has a commercial production company, as does my brother. I have a passion for writing and directing comedy, from commercials to feature films.
What are you working on right now?
Right now I am working on a new commercial, two fashion videos and a short documentary for a homeless organization based in New Jersey. I also want to start shooting my first feature, that I just finished writing soon. Stay tuned!
What are your wildest dreams for your filmmaking career?
To partner with Woody Allen on a film project.
What is something bizarre about you?
I love my cat as much as I love my boyfriend.
What currently inspires you?
My parents inspire me. They are very funny characters, yet very open minded and have a strong psychological point of view. They are always present in my scripts somewhere.
What’s your best advice for an aspiring filmmaker?
Always work on something!
