This week’s Audience Awards staff pick film is Douglas Tompkins- A Wild Legacy, directed by James Q Martin & Chris Cresci. Wild legacy follows the life of the world-renowned adventurer, conservationist, and Co-founder of The North Face and Esprit, Doug Tompkins.

Born in Arizona and raised in Alaska, James Q Martin left for Central America in 1977 where he discovered his passion for media and storytelling. He later returned to Arizona to found the fully-staffed production house, Q Media and since, has been recognized as a critically-acclaimed and award-winning filmmaker and adventure photographer. Martin has traveled extensively, visiting over 30 countries and documenting the people who inspire him the most. He hopes that by capturing stories of those who inspire him, he will bring awareness to issues facing the world and unite people to take steps to preserve and protect our world for generations to come.

Chris Cresci is a filmmaker based in Portland working as Director/Cinematographer/Editor at Q Media. His work mainly focuses on themes of conservation and human connection to the natural world. Cresci believes that the power of film can create real lasting change and he strives to prove this by telling authentic and immersive stories.

Douglas Tompkins – A Wild Legacy is an award-winning film that took home the Best Conservation Hero Film Award at the NY WILD Film Festival and was presented to audiences at the Telluride Mountain Film Festival during the festival’s tribute to Doug in 2016.
